The power of hardware under the control of software
EDALab is an Italian company that represents an answer to the need of innovation in the field of embedded systems since 2007. It’s technical staff consists of about 15 young people including founders, employees and collaborators, all grouped by the passion for technology and informatics.
EDALab’s activity addresses networked embedded systems in which the software component plays a very important role in assuring flexibility, interoperability, and longevity. EDALab’s skills on embedded software cover all the aspects such as applications, middleware, libraries, drivers for embedded operating systems and tools for automatic verification. Examples of applications developed by EDALab are monitoring applications based on wireless sensor networks, communication appliances, customized design tools and so forth. EDALab also provides solutions for process integration.
EDALab’s customers are medium/large companies whose products or processes rely on embedded systems; they need to address innovation, either full – e.g., new products – or incremental – e.g., improvement of existing processes/products. The innovation process that they have to face has new aspects far from their everyday activity. EDALab helps to reduce uncertainties by providing knowledge as well as efficient software development and system integration. EDALab provides design services, prototypes and final implementation up to post-production services.
Research
EDALab's research is strictly connected to the activities of the Electronic System Design (ESD) group of the University of Verona; ESD mainly focuses on modelling and verification of embedded systems.
The University provides EDALab with the un-valuable access to new ideas and to a world-wide knowledge network. EDALab translates such novel solutions into commercial products and services. This way, EDALab plays its role in the technology transfer from University to industry.
Mission
EDALab is a company that creates solutions to improve the efficiency and quality in services and products through the use of emerging technologies related to embedded systems.
EDALab mainly addresses software development and solutions integration. While in the past embedded systems were characterized mainly by their mechanical and electrical aspects (the hardware), now software and integration between devices are becoming the most crucial aspects to provide the embedded system with quality, efficiency, flexibility and longevity.
These features are available through the adoption of new methodologies for the design of ever-more complex embedded systems. EDALab helps to face this complexity by providing its know-how and expertise grown in several years of development in this field.
